Arlene A.Wallett
Our beloved mother, Arlene Ann Wallett, 88, of Rutland Town and formerly of Shrewsbury, Vermont, entered the house of the Lord on 08/03/2026. Arlene was the eldest daughter of Howard and Olive (Nelson) Haley of Shrewsbury, Vermont. Arlene graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy. She was a devout Catholic her entire life and a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church in Rutland.
Survivors include her three daughters, Alicia Cassidy (Jerry Douglas), Sheila Alessi (Daryl Alessi), and Erin Wallett; five grandchildren, Caitlin Cassidy (Mitch Blair), Ryan Cassidy, Alexa Alessi (Cody Thomason), Adam Alessi, and Ava Wallett; one great-grandson, Finley Blair; four sisters, Marilyn Goodin, Glenda Gearwar (Bob Gearwar), Delores Pitts, Ingrid Haley; one brother, Nelson Haley (Carol Haley); and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her role as mother, Arlene worked diligently throughout her life in a variety of industries, taking great pride in her strong work ethic and in helping others in need. She was an avid reader and enjoyed westerns and books on American History.A lifelong animal lover, she particularly enjoyed both horses and dogs and always found room at home for one more animal in need. She provided each with love, comfort, and care throughout their lives. She held a special place in her heart for her horses: Cheyenne, andNehor, her mule: Ivy, and her dogs: Bozo and Patrick.
Arlene was preceded in death by her first husband, William B Wallett, Jr., second husband, Frank LaPenna, her parents, Howard and Olive Haley, and a nephew, Daniel Peden.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the wonderful care our mother received at The Meadows in Rutland Town over the last two years and to the Bayada Hospice Team for their kind and compassionate care over the last few months. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Father Bernie, Father Joseph, Susan Roland, and the entire staff at Christ the King Church in Rutland.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on August 11, 2026 at 11 AM in Christ the King Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rutland.
